Celebrating the Mooncake Festival
The Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, holds a special place in East Asian cultures. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month and traces its origins back over 3,000 years to the Shang Dynasty as a harvest celebration.
Today, the festival is a time for family reunions, thanksgiving, and prayers for good fortune. It is characterized by the lighting of lanterns, moon-gazing, and the sharing of mooncakes, which symbolize unity and togetherness.
